Buying a computer

I have always been a fan of the mainstream PC. I am a big fan of HP and I always run on the latest version of Windows. I feel that HP really gives you your moneys worth with memory space and processor speed. I didn't feel it necessary to buy a computer with a floppy drive. Floppy disks just don't have enough space on them. I bought my new computer with a DVD-RW drive, and extra USB ports because I love burning music, movies, and I like the extra usb ports so I can have all my electronics plugged in and working at the same time. It came with 240 mb of memory and a 350 gb hard drive for all my games, music, pictures, and of course movies. A little extra memory never hurt anyone. It's better to have it and not need it than to need it and not have it. Buying an external hard drive is one way to maximize space on your computer as well. I find that these are perfect for storing large amounts of music like an entire i-Tunes library. My computer didn't come with a very good graphics card and that's the only thing I don't really like about my computer. It's important to know what you want your computer to do when you are looking at buying a new computer, because a lot of the new computers are personalized to be for gaming, music, pictures, etc. If you are just looking to buy a computer for work or school purposes you wouldn't necessarily want a computer that has tons of photo software on it, or that has music mixing software like the new HP Beat Audio laptop. You will wind up just spending a lot of money on features you don't need and that you will probably never use. I personally think that using a Build Your Own PC tool like Dell offers is the best way to get exactly what you want and nothing else. In my experience from buying computers from places like Wal-Mart, Best Buy, and Comp USA, you get a PC with bare minimum storage space, processor speed, and a bunch of shareware you don't want and just slows down the PC and takes up the precious space you are given. It is also important to have protecting on your computer from viruses and spyware. Some of our most personal information is stored on our computers so it is imperative that you have an up to date internet security/virus protection program on your new PC. Otherwise you are pretty much wasting you money on the new computer because it will get stuffed to the rafters with viruses and worms. The great thing about computers is that the possibilities are endless. So with a little research it shouldn't be hard to find a computer that is perfect for what you are trying to get done. Whether its gaming, music, pictures, or just suffering the web there is a PC that will work for everyone.
